My top three anti-ageing must haves!

Want to know the holy grail of skincare if you are looking to keep or restore your youthful appearance? Looking young and fresh and reducing signs of ageing is a huge goal for many people. There are a lot of great options out there to help with this, but today I want to share my top three active ingredients that you can add to your daily routine with you. Here goes!

1). SPF You may have heard already that you should wear sunscreen all year. All year round I hear you ask? Yes-even in the UK! Sun damage is the biggest cause of premature ageing and sunscreen dramatically reduces the effects of this (please see a previous post all about choosing a great sunscreen).

2). Vitamin C – please see my separate blog for detailed info on this, but essentially this guy helps to work against free radicals from sun damage (so use under sunscreen in the mornings). It is also essential in producing collagen, which is what keeps our skin looking youthful and plump. However, not all Vitamin C’s are going to be beneficial for your skin, though, so choose wisely or you may just be throwing money away. You need the right type of Vit C (L-ascorbic acid has been clinically proven to be the right one for the job as your body can use it really easily), in the right strength and also for it to be able to penetrate through the skin’s layers (bioavailable) to where it needs to be.

3). Retinol – This has thousands of clinical trials proving it is effective at anti-ageing, by speeding up the skin cell turnover and stimulating collagen. Retinol should be introduced slowly, and only at night. It can cause some side effects, so you ideally will have someone experienced helping you to get the most from it. I have a Retinol cheat sheet, please let me know if you would like a copy.

Have you got this amazing trio in your bathroom cabinet? If not, they are definitely worth adding in!
