What does the treatment feel like?

Numbing cream will be applied to the area to be treated to ensure comfort. The SkinPen device is then used to glide over the skin, where the tiny needles are pressed against the skin, painlessly piercing its outermost layers. This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.

What are the possible side effects?

There are mild post-procedure effects, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn, with a quick 24 hour recovery time. You may have some initial redness and swelling for a few hours. You may also have some dryness and flakiness of your skin after a couple days. Full aftercare advice is provided and it is important to follow these instructions carefully.

Is it Safe?

One goal of every microneedling procedure is to create as little pain or discomfort for the patient as possible. Most patients tolerate the procedure amazingly well, although this is somewhat dependent on the area being treated and the severity of the problem. Under most circumstances the treated area recovers very rapidly after skin needling. That being said, there are occasional microneedling side effects, including swelling, infections, a flare up of cold sores or mild acne, hyperpigmentation. Most of these are preventable by ensuring correct technique, needle depth and proper aftercare.

Treatment areas?

Treatment areas: face, décolletage, chest, hands, hair, stretch marks, burns, other scarring.

How often will I need treatment?

Typically 3-6 procedures for optimal results, one per month and then to maintain the results, one treatment is recommended every 6 months.

Can I use this with other treatments?

Absolutely! Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment combinable with any number of cosmetic procedures, among them injectable fillers, chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and other traditional cosmetic procedures. At FaceOxford, we also combine this treatment with PRP for even more amazing results.

At FaceOxford, we use the SkinPen device. This is the only 100% completely sealed cartridge on the market to prevent fluid intake, which removes any possibility of cross contamination.

NeoGen® Plasma is an advanced non-surgical treatment designed to improve skin quality, firmness and texture by stimulating the skin’s natural regenerative processes.

At Face Oxford, we use NeoGen® as part of our skin health and regeneration approach. It is particularly suited to patients who are noticing thinner, crepier, less resilient skin, under-eye ageing, acne scarring, sun damage, pigmentation or changes in skin texture.

What Can NeoGen® Treat?

✓ Crepey skin
✓ Fine lines and wrinkles
✓ Skin laxity
✓ Under-eye ageing
✓ Acne scarring
✓ Uneven texture
✓ Enlarged pores

Why Choose NeoGen® Plasma?

NeoGen® is different from many traditional resurfacing treatments because it uses nitrogen plasma rather than laser or radiofrequency microneedling.

At Face Oxford, NeoGen® fits beautifully with our philosophy: skin-first, regenerative, evidence-led and personalised. We do not see it as a quick fix, but as part of a longer-term skin health strategy.

Recovery and Downtime

Downtime depends on the treatment intensity selected.

Lower-energy treatments may involve mild redness, warmth, dryness or tightness.

Medium or higher-energy treatments may involve more visible redness, bronzing, flaking or peeling.

Your treatment plan will be discussed fully during consultation so that we can balance your skin goals with your lifestyle and available downtime.

Most patients describe NeoGen® Plasma as uncomfortable rather than painful. A topical anaesthetic cream can be applied before treatment to improve comfort, and treatment settings can be tailored to your individual needs. Some warmth and sensitivity are expected during and shortly after treatment.

Many patients achieve noticeable improvement after a single treatment. However, the number of treatments recommended will depend on your skin concerns, treatment goals and the intensity of treatment performed. This will be discussed during your consultation.

Some improvements may be seen once the skin has healed, but NeoGen® works by stimulating collagen remodelling and regenerative processes within the skin. Results typically continue to improve over several months following treatment.

NeoGen® Plasma can be used to improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crepey skin
  • Skin laxity
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven texture
  • Sun damage and pigmentation
  • Under-eye ageing
  • Neck and décolletage ageing

Yes. NeoGen Plasma can be used to treat delicate areas around the eyes, including crepey skin, fine lines and age-related changes in skin quality. Suitability will be assessed during your consultation.

Downtime varies depending on the treatment intensity. Most patients experience redness, warmth and a bronzed appearance of the skin as healing occurs. More intensive treatments may involve several days of visible recovery. We will provide personalised aftercare guidance and discuss expected downtime before treatment.

No. NeoGen® Plasma does not use laser energy. Instead, it uses nitrogen plasma technology to deliver controlled thermal energy into the skin, stimulating regeneration and collagen remodelling.

Whilst both treatments aim to improve skin quality and signs of ageing, NeoGen® uses nitrogen plasma technology rather than laser energy. NeoGen is often chosen for its regenerative approach and ability to treat a wide range of skin concerns, including delicate areas such as the eye region.

Yes. At Face Oxford, NeoGen® may be incorporated into a wider skin health and regeneration plan. Depending on your concerns, this may include skincare, microneedling, BYONIK®, LED therapy or other regenerative treatments. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs.

NeoGen® Plasma may be suitable for patients concerned about skin ageing, acne scarring, texture changes, pigmentation, skin laxity or overall skin quality. A consultation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.

The cost of NeoGen® Plasma depends on the area being treated and the treatment intensity required. Following a consultation, we will provide a personalised treatment plan and pricing recommendation based on your skin concerns and goals.

Treatment prices start from £200 for a small area.

You can book a consultation online or contact the clinic to discuss whether NeoGen® Plasma may be suitable for you.

What is the treatment like?

To ensure it is as comfortable for you as possible, a local anaesthetic cream is applied before commencing the procedure. You can expect a small degree of swelling when treating the eye area, which will go down within 3 or 4 days. Tiny, circular scabs form at each treatment point that take about 3 days to start falling away, but will take about a week to completely clear. We will give you aftercare to minimise infection risk, but it is very important you do not pick at the scabs.

Prices

£60 - For up to 3 lesions
£120 - For up to 10 lesions
£180 - For over 10 lesions

How to prepare your skin for Dermaplaning?

To maximize the benefits and avoid any irritation, make sure you prep your skin in the following ways:
• Stop exfoliating: To ensure the skin is not damaged by over-exfoliation, discontinue all exfoliants, including AHAs, BHAs, enzymes, micro-beads, and retinoids for five to seven days.
• Skip the retinol and the sunbathing: If you’re currently using Retin-A, discontinue use for seven to fourteen days prior to the treatment. You should also avoid sun exposure for five to seven days prior to ensure you do not have a sunburn.
• Let your hair grow: Hair removal such as waxing, threading, and shaving should be avoided for at least two weeks before dermaplaning.
• If you breakout… In the event of active acne and raised lesions on the day of treatment, it’s best to reschedule until the skin is fully healed. There is also a six-month waiting period after Roaccutane.

What is the treatment like?

First, we will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, we pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a sterile blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz. This treatment is pain free and your appointment will take approximately 45 minutes. After the dermaplaning, you can have a moisturising face mask applied, followed by SPF.

Who can have dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment. This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby.

Will hair removed grow back thicker?

NO, hair will not come back thicker, darker or coarser than it was before having the treatment. Some caution is needed around the chin and top lip, but this will be assessed and discussed with you.

Aftercare?

Most people have zero downtime, however each person is individual and those with sensitive skin may have a little redness, heat or sensitivity. This is normal and usually resolves within a few hours.

Your skin is able to absorb products more easily, so really a good skincare regime is recommended after dermaplaning. In addition, you will be more sensitive to UV light, so SPF 50 is essential.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided.

Prices

£40 - Express 30 mins
£60 - Luxury 45 mins (using specially selected treatments from the Alumier MD range to care for and hydrate your skin after the Dermaplaning).
